Summer Ranch Trip

We had a great ranch trip a couple weeks ago and did a better job at taking photos. Lindsay is recommitting herself to take more photos. We were pretty lousy this last year. We took the boys on a hike I haven't done since before the mission--Sulfer Creek. It was a lot longer than I remember, but most of it is through water, so it didn't drain you the way most hikes do.

This little guy followed us around for a while. The butterfly too.

One of my favorite moments in this world is when the sun is setting at the ranch. There is nothing more beautiful.

Last night we took Kam to his first concert, and it could not have been a better one! Keane performed at the Gallivan Center and it was just about the best concert I've ever been to! They sounded so good and the entire band's energy, particularly vocalist Tom Chaplin, was amazing. Each song was better than the last. It was hard to choose what was my favorite moment of the night. They kept saying how surprised they were with Salt Lake and how our energy was so great. They proclaimed it their highlight of their US tour! Kam likes the band and did pretty well for a first concert, but at one point just camped on the grass and made little bird's nests. I wish I had gotten a picture of those. My first concert was INXS with my mom at the Marriott Center. I think I lasted 3 or 4 songs and told her I wanted to go home. Anyway, beautiful venue, very memorable night!

New Car!

So our kids are getting bigger and our minivan is getting older. My student loans are a couple months away from being paid off and we have a couple road trips coming up, so we knew it was time to get something else. We looked around at a few different models and found this 2004 Chevy Tahoe and I couldn't be happier. The gas mileage is probably going to kill us, but "it is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up." I love driving it.

First Place

Kam had his district track meet this week and placed FIRST in two different events (the video above is from field day last year). He was first on the 100 meter (out of about 15 different boys) and first on the 4x100. He ran third leg on his team. We were so excited for him! He will run in the state meet at the end of this month. Speedy Gonzales!

Love For Audra

Audra McDonald won a record tying fifth Tony Award the other night for her work in Porgy and Bess. She will soon be married to my cousin Will Swenson. I met her a couple summers ago when she and Will performed in 110 in the Shade at the Orem Hale. She has a great heart and has made Will so happy. Her acceptance speech for her Tony was awesome!

So now I like Hugh Jackman.

And Another...

For the first years of our marriage Friends was the show that Lindsay and I could not miss. The series got better as it went along with each season surpassing the one prior. The series finale had everything that you wanted as a fan: Pheobe was moving on with her life with Mike, Monica and Chandler got twins, Ross and Rachel hooked up again and Joey stayed Joey. The scene with Ross trying to get Rachel off the plane was so funny and so touching. One of my all-time favorite finales.
